Sunset and sunrise forecast

Forecast dates: today to Nov 10, 2026

Today’s remaining forecast does not include another sunrise, sunset or golden hour. Choose a later date.

The quality index is an experimental photography forecast, not a probability or guarantee. Cloud position can change quickly. It uses weather near the selected location, so a distant cloud bank towards the horizon may affect the result.

Sunset forecast FAQ

How is the sunset quality score worked out?

It combines the exact sunrise or sunset window for your location with a MET Norway weather forecast. Low, middle and high cloud, horizon openness, visibility, humidity, fog, rain and wind across that window go into a quality index from 0 to 100.

What makes a good sunset?

Middle and high cloud can catch colour around sunset, as long as the horizon in the sun’s direction is clear enough for the light to reach them. Thick low cloud on the horizon, fog or rain usually block it. The breakdown under the score shows which factors helped and which held it back.

Is golden hour scored differently?

Yes. Sunrise and sunset are scored for cloud colour, while golden hour uses a separate model that rewards direct, warm light.

How far ahead can I check?

From today up to eight days ahead. Forecasts get less reliable further out, so check again closer to the day.

What does forecast confidence mean?

It reflects how complete the weather data is for the event window. Missing fields lower the confidence instead of counting as zero, so a high score with low confidence deserves a second look.

Is the score a probability?

No. It is an experimental index of photographic quality, not the chance of a colourful sky. Cloud can change quickly, and a cloud bank far towards the horizon may not show up in the local forecast.
