How the roof estimate works

A complicated roof is treated as a set of simple planes. Each section has its own usable area, direction, pitch and shade estimate; their production is calculated separately and then combined.

What this estimate assumes

Uses PVGIS historical solar radiation, 450 W panels occupying about 2 m² each and 14% standard system losses. The shade choice is an indicative range, not a measured shade survey.
